Nie wiem co Kernel.org robi w tym zestawieniu, bo ta organizacja pojawia się także na liście pierwszoroczniaków, do której sam podałeś odnośnik. Wcześniej kernel.org współpracowało z innymi organizacjami (np. git) w ramach GSoC, ale to wszystko nieoficjalnie.

FreeBSD to lepszy przykład weterana GSoC, który zawsze dostaje dużą ilość "slotów".

Ciekawy jestem jakie projekty w ramach GSoC będą rozwijane dla Boost, Gcc, Eclipse, Git, FFmpeg, Blender, Gimp (trochę mniej, ale jednak mogą umilić i przyspieszyć korzystanie z komputera jako użytkownik Kernel.org i KDE (trochę mniej, bo nie wpływają aż tak bardzo na samą pracę jaką wykonuje (w przeciwieństwie do bibliotek i narzędzi przeze mnie wykorzystywanych ;p))).

Tak gwoli scislosci – student dostaje 4500$, nie 5000$.

Przy okazji Google pozwolę sobie na mały off. Tworzą ANGLE, czyli translator OGL=>D3D. Taka odwrotność tego co się dzieje w WINE.

Kiedyś było podobne rozwiązanie, bodajże Mesa 3.0=>D3D6.0. Stosowano np. tej grze (pliczek altogl przemianować chyba na opengl32.dll).
